After several weeks of hard work, the Organizing Committee of the ISWA World Congress 2019 has completed the configuration of the Congress Official Program, still pending titles and details of some sessions. Among the flagship projects that ISWA currently has in hand there are the campaign to close macrodumpsitesros in developing countries, the campaign against marine litter in our seas and oceans and a report on the impact of the 4th industrial revolution in the waste management industry.
Throughout the three days of the Congress a plastic waste calculator, the report on how Industry 4.0 is transforming the waste management sector and an ISWA document (position paper) on extended responsibility of the waste producer (EPR) will be presented at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao. In the keynote speeches of the opening ceremony we will be able to hear inspiring messages about marine litter, about the circular economy and its job opportunities and about cases of extreme weather as a result of climate change.
Besides, the Congress program includes technical visits and a social program for the attendees and accompanying persons. Within the social program, the Organizing Committee has scheduled a welcome cocktail on October 7 at the Guggenheim Museum, which will only be accessible by the first 500 participants.
